For the other sections of our sequence (when we see the female character running) we want it to be upbeat and the type of music you listen to when running to make it as realistic as possible.

3 Titles Names of our thriller opening

For our thriller opening we have considered a variety of names to call our opening sequence. We have narrowed it down to 3 potential names and have now put the question on Survey Monkey "Which of these titles for be the best for an opening thriller?"

• Dead End
• Pursue
• Restricted

Dead End
We thought Dead End would be a suitable title for our thriller because it signifies being trapped which fits in with our kidnap theme. Our character is trapped in a confined space with no way out therefore reaching a Dead End. It highlights themes of death or danger which is found in many mainstream thrillers.


Pursue
We thought Pursue would be a suitable title for our thriller because it means to follow/capture which is what our film is about. Our main character is followed and taken by an anonymous character and captured/taken twice therefore this title also suits him pursuing a need to have her.


Restricted
We thought Restricted would be a suitable title for our thriller because our film is based on the idea of being in trap in the unknown. It is similar to Dead End but more specific and to an audience could have a different effect.

Filming

This post is to show we were all at the location to film and each had a go at filming shots. We used lighting to help balance the shots and blocked the light coming from the window so we had full control on where we wanted the lights to shine. This worked effectively with our story if the blocked out window came into shot due to it being a kidnapped theme therefore shows no one can see inside and the character cannot look for help. We filmed all our shots in the time we had and to a good quality and we are all happy with majority of the shots outcome as we begin to edit.

Pratice Shots

These are the shots that we practiced.
(1) The first two shots are close ups. These are going to fade into eachother to create a graphic match between the womens face (running) and revealing the mans face. It was helpful to practice this shot as it is quite significant to the build up of tension around the character of the man in our opening.

(2) we actually didn't like the way we took the second shot. We like the hand moving away from the camera however the table was too high so it looked unnatural for the characters hand to run along it freely. Therefore, we took this shot again on a table (which was lower down - this hasn't been added to the edit). We preferred this one.

(3) The last shot we liked and was quite easy to create. A MS of the mans legs walking past a side. This is how we want to create the shot when filming the actual opening.

Overall; practicing a few of the shots not only helped up practice creating certain shots for specific effects, it also refreshed our minds on working with the equipment in preparation for Tuesday (3rd)

Week Plan - 2nd March

This week we will be filming. Our group and individual plan for the weeks lessons & extra work is as followed:
Monday 2nd (Today): we will be mainly brushing up on our blog posts today & also practicing some more shots if we have time.
Alex - today Alex is going to edit the shots we practiced last lesson (Friday) and add them to our previous weeks plan on the blog. He will also be finishing the last three question analysis' of the survey. 
Amy & Sophie - Today Sophie & Amy are going to have a look through the filming criteria on the brief to make sure we have done everything we need to do to ensure we are ready for tomorrow. This includes creating the risk assessment, making sure our equipment is booked, and if posted writing on the practice shots from Friday.

Tuesday 3rd (Filming): We are going to be filming tomorrow. We will be meeting in East Grinstead at 8.30am and will aim to be in the woods, set up by 9-9.15am. We need to start filming in the woods due to our specific need for a 'morning' feel to the scene, so we will complete the flashback shots (being shot in a private machinery room owned by Sophie's dad) after the woods. We will be finishing filming and getting a bus at 1.20pm.

Friday 6th (Editing): On Friday we will begin with the editing of our opening.
